HMD has launched the Nokia 123 Shield, a new 2G feature phone positioned as the brand’s “most affordable water and dust-resistant feature phone,” built with a focus on durability and reliable call quality.
According to HMD, the Nokia 123 Shield is designed to withstand rain, splashes, sand, and dust. While the company has not assigned an official IP rating to the device, a footnote on its website states that the phone meets the requirements of an IP65 rating under IEC standard 60529.
HMD said the phone has been designed with outdoor workers in mind, featuring a slip-resistant texture along its sides and a rubber seal protecting the headphone jack and charging port from dust and moisture.
Improved Call Quality and Specifications
HMD claims the Nokia 123 Shield delivers a stronger, more reliable signal for clearer calls compared to other 2G feature phones in its lineup, such as the Nokia 105.
Under the hood, the device runs on a Unisoc SC6531E chipset paired with the S30+ operating system, along with 4MB of RAM and 4MB of onboard storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD card.
The phone features a 2.4-inch QVGA display and a QVGA rear camera accompanied by an LED flash, which HMD says is 300% brighter than the flash on the Nokia 110 and can also double as a torch.
Long Battery Life
Powering the device is a 1,750 mAh removable battery, charged via USB-C, which HMD says can deliver up to 19 days of standby time and 27.9 hours of talk time.
Additional features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual SIM support, and both wired and wireless FM radio functionality.
Availability and Expected Pricing
The Nokia 123 Shield is available in green and purple color options. While HMD has not officially announced pricing, the phone has reportedly appeared on retailer listings in Bulgaria for around €35 and in Greece for approximately €40.
Based on international pricing, the Nokia 123 Shield is expected to be priced between Rs. 11,000 and Rs. 12,600 when it becomes available in Pakistan.
