His Highness Aga Khan V Arrives in Berlin to Bless European Jamat with Didar Mubarak

Berlin, Germany — His Highness Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan V, the 50th Hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, arrived in Berlin on Saturday, marking the start of a three-day official visit to Germany aimed at blessing the Ismaili Jamat of Continental Europe with Didar Mubarak.

The Imam was received at Berlin Airport by senior German government officials alongside leaders of Ismaili institutions. A large number of Ismaili followers also gathered at the airport, eager for a glimpse of their spiritual leader as he touched down for the anticipated visit.

According to official Ismaili community announcements, the visit to Germany runs from July 4 to 6, 2026, and follows the announcement made in a Talika readout at Jamatkhanas worldwide on May 29. The announcement came after the Imam’s significant journey to Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral in Northern Pakistan, which concluded on May 26.

The Berlin visit is part of a broader tour to meet the Jamat across Continental Europe, and adds to a growing list of international engagements the Imam has undertaken since assuming the Imamat in February 2025. He has so far visited France, Kenya, Uganda, the United States, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Pakistan.

During his time in Germany, the Imam is expected to hold discussions with senior officials on the long-running development partnership between German institutions and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), which spans sectors including health, education, clean energy, and urban revitalisation across Africa, South and Central Asia, and the Middle East.

For the Ismaili community in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, many of whom witnessed the Imam’s visit to the region just weeks ago, the Berlin Didar carries added significance as part of a continuing global outreach following his ascension to the Imamat.

Further coverage of the visit, including details of the Didar ceremonies, will follow.
