Washington: China’s President Xi Jinping will visit the United States of America in September, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced on Thursday.
U.S. President Donald Trump said that he will discuss artificial intelligence with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Chinese leader’s upcoming visit to the United States on September 24.
“President Xi is coming over on September 24th, and we talked about it (artificial intelligence) when I was over in Beijing, and we’ll be talking about it again,” Trump said.
Xi’s visit follows a meeting between the two leaders during Trump’s trip to China earlier this year, during which Trump had invited the Chinese president to the White House.
According to Trump, the September meeting is expected to cover artificial intelligence, trade, and other key issues shaping U.S.-China relations. The visit is expected to be one of the most significant diplomatic engagements of the year.
Ahead of the visit, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks on Wednesday, discussing the need to identify areas of cooperation to lay the groundwork for what both sides described as a “very positive visit.”
