CHILAS: A powerful cloudburst triggered devastating flash floods across the Thor area of Chilas on Saturday, causing widespread destruction to property, infrastructure, and places of worship, police said.
According to police, floodwaters struck multiple localities including Thor Meik and Thor Angar, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. A local mosque in Thor Meik was among the structures hit by the raging waters, while flash floods descending from a dry mountain caused additional damage in Thor Angar.
The floods swept away at least one house along with household belongings, livestock, and a vehicle, inflicting heavy losses on the affected families.
Access roads in the area have been severely disrupted, creating serious difficulties for local residents trying to evacuate and for rescue teams attempting to reach those in need.
Authorities are monitoring the situation as relief and rescue efforts are underway.
