Islamabad Police to Be Withheld from GB Election Duty

Islamabad – In a significant development ahead of the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, a decision has been made not to deploy Islamabad Police personnel to the region for election security duties.
According to police officials, the Gilgit-Baltistan government had formally requested the deployment of Islamabad Police personnel for the upcoming elections, and staff from various departments had been scheduled to be sent to Gilgit for this purpose.
However, officials confirmed that the plan has been reversed. Islamabad Police personnel are instead being diverted to Azad Kashmir for deployment there, leaving no available force to send to Gilgit-Baltistan.
The development raises questions about alternative security arrangements that will need to be made ahead of the elections in the region.
