DIAMER: Gilgit-Baltistan’s Election Commission conducted re-polling on Monday at selected polling stations in two constituencies, GBA-15 and GBA-17, after results from the original June 7 election had been withheld over complaints of unrest and irregularities.
Voting continued until 5:00 p.m. at the designated stations. Re-polling was held at one polling station in GBA-15 and eight polling stations in GBA-17, where the earlier results at these nine stations had been put on hold following reports of disturbances during the initial vote.
According to unofficial and provisional results, independent candidate Muhammad Dil Pazeer won in GBA-15 (Diamer-1), securing 6,033 votes to take first place. In GBA-17, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Muhammad Naseem emerged victorious with 10,421 votes.
The Election Commission had withheld results from the nine affected polling stations after the June 7 general election amid complaints of electoral irregularities, prompting Monday’s re-polling exercise to finalize the outcome in both constituencies.
Final and official notification of the results is expected once the Election Commission completes its formal consolidation process.
