Search for the victim’s body continues in the Gilgit River.
A first-year college student was kidnapped and murdered in the Konodas area of Gilgit city. According to police, 18-year-old Kashan left his home around 9 PM on the night of September 13 and never returned.
Following a complaint by the family, a case (FIR No. 154/025) under Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code was registered at City Police Station Gilgit, and an immediate investigation was launched.
During the investigation, two of the victim’s close friends were taken into custody:
- Shahid Hassan, son of Muhammad Ameen, a resident of Chilas (currently residing in Sakarkoi, Gilgit), and
- Shehran Ali, son of Mehboob Ali, a resident of Skardu (currently residing in Barmas, Gilgit).
During interrogation, both suspects confessed to the crime and led police to recover the victim’s slippers and mobile phone. According to police, efforts to recover the body based on the suspects’ guidance are currently ongoing.
The victim’s father, Raja Fida, told journalists that his son had no known enmity or financial disputes with anyone. He said, “I don’t know why my young son, a first-year student who had just arrived in Gilgit from Yasin two days ago, was killed by such cruel people.”
A large number of people have gathered at Raja Kashan’s home in Mujahid Colony, Konodas, to offer condolences. Residents have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the murder of the young student and are demanding justice for the grieving family.
Raja Kashan, originally from Yasin in District Ghizer and currently residing in Konodas, was reportedly taken away two days ago by the two suspects. According to police, the suspects have confessed to the murder, and the victim’s mobile phone has been recovered from them.
Kashan had completed his matriculation from Army Public School, Hayat Shaheed Campus, Gilgit. His father, Raja Fida, said that Kashan was the youngest of his six sons. The family had moved from their ancestral area of Yasin to Konodas, Gilgit, to provide better educational opportunities for their children.
Today, the atmosphere in Gilgit city is mournful over the brutal murder of Raja Kashan. The local community is deeply saddened by the incident.
